How lapcost counts
The entry fee is the smallest lie in motorsport. lapcost adds what a track day genuinely consumes:
- Entry & fees. Entry, track insurance, coaching, plus season-level fixed costs (licence, membership, storage) spread across your planned days.
- Track fuel. Sessions × litres per session × pump price. Flat out burns two to three times road consumption.
- Travel & stay. The drive there and back, tolls, food, accommodation.
- Consumables, amortized. A tyre set, pad set, discs and oil service each spread over the number of track days they honestly last. This is the number most people refuse to look at.
Cost per lap is the whole day divided by your estimated laps: track minutes over average lap time. It is the truest single number in this sport. Planning a specific event? Start from a circuit guide.
Questions people ask
What does a track day actually cost?
Once wear and travel are counted, a typical car day lands between €350 and €900 in Europe, or roughly $400 to $1,000 in the US; bike days run about two thirds of that. Your number depends mostly on tyres and how far you travel to get there.
Which costs do people forget?
Consumable wear. A €900 tyre set that lasts six days is €150 per day, every day, even when nothing breaks. Pads, discs, oil and the season licence follow the same logic.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything is calculated and stored in your browser. Share links carry your numbers inside the link itself. There is no server and no account.
How do I make track days cheaper?
Check the pit wall panel: it ranks your levers. Usually one more day per tyre set, splitting the drive, packing food, and spreading fixed costs over more days per season.
What happens when I switch currency?
Your numbers convert at European Central Bank reference rates from July 2026, built into the app itself, so the switch works offline and nothing is fetched. Recent enough for planning; not a live FX feed.
Are the circuit lap times exact?
They are typical track-day pace, not records: a starting point so your cost per lap is realistic. Edit the lap time to match yours. The lap count assumes clean flying laps; traffic, red flags and in/out laps will trim it, so treat the per-lap number as a best case.
