PRIVACY POLICY

your numbers stay yours

LAST UPDATED 12 SEPTEMBER 2026

The short version

lapcost runs entirely in your browser. We have no accounts, no login, no newsletter, no cookies, no analytics and no ad networks. Your calculator inputs are saved on your own device and are never transmitted to us. The calculator's result column and the circuit guide pages carry labelled partner links, described in section 5; they are plain outbound links and load nothing on this page. The only personal data that exists at all is the standard technical log our hosting provider keeps to run the server. That is the whole story; the sections below spell it out properly.

1 · Who operates this site

This site is operated by the person identified in the imprint, the single authoritative record of operator identity for lapcost.com. That person is the data controller for the little processing described below. lapcost.com is part of the drivenerve family of free driving tools. Contact for anything in this policy, including data protection requests: hello@drivenerve.com.

2 · What happens on your device

  • Calculator data. Your inputs (costs, lap times, vehicle mode, currency, season length) are stored in your browser's localStorage under the key lapcost-v2 so the tool remembers your setup. This data never leaves your device. Clear it any time via your browser's site-data settings, or by using private browsing, and it is gone.
  • Offline cache. A service worker stores copies of this site's files on your device so the calculator works without signal. It caches our files only, no personal data.
  • Share links. When you copy a share link or summary, your numbers are encoded into that link by your own action. Anyone you send it to can read those numbers, so share links the way you would share the numbers themselves.
  • Cost cards. The downloadable image is rendered in your browser and saved by you. We never see it.

This storage is strictly necessary for a feature you actively use (saving your own inputs), which is why no consent banner is required for it under EU ePrivacy rules. We use no cookies of any kind.

3 · What reaches a server

When you load the site, our hosting provider's web server processes your IP address, browser user-agent and the pages requested, and keeps short-lived technical access logs. That provider is Hostinger (HOSTINGER UAB, Švitrigailos str. 34, LT-03230 Vilnius, Lithuania, and Hostinger International Ltd, Cyprus), acting as our processor. Hostinger states that it processes personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation and, for any transfer outside the EU or EEA, under the European Commission's standard contractual clauses (hostinger.com/legal/privacy-policy, read 5 September 2026). This is standard for virtually every website; the legal basis is legitimate interest in operating and securing the service (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)), and logs are kept only for the host's standard rotation. We do not use these logs to identify or profile anyone, and we add no analytics on top of them. All site assets, including fonts, are served from lapcost.com itself: the page makes no third-party requests.

4 · What we do not do

  • No accounts, passwords or newsletter, so no email addresses are collected.
  • No analytics or measurement scripts, first-party or third-party.
  • No ad networks, display advertising or tracking pixels. The partner links described in section 5 are plain outbound links, not ad units.
  • No sale or sharing of personal information, in the CCPA sense or any other.
  • No profiling, no automated decision-making, no cross-site anything.

5 · Partner links, and what is still only planned

Active since 23 August 2026, extended 5 September 2026, US parts partner changed 12 September 2026. lapcost carries labelled partner links in two places, and nowhere else:

  • Circuit guide pages. Every one of the 28 pages links Discover Cars, a car hire comparison service, below its cost table, tagged with a page code such as lc-spa-francorchamps. The 11 United States pages add a second card with Advance Auto Parts (street car parts and fluids, United States) and apexsimracing (sim-racing rigs); the 2 UK pages add Demon Tweeks (motorsport parts and gear). Pages for every other country carry the Discover Cars link only.
  • The calculator. The result column ends with a card called "Pit wall · before the next day". Its first row is always a free link to your circuit's page. When your currency, units or picked circuit point to the United States it adds the same two US partners; when they point to the UK it adds Demon Tweeks; readers everywhere else see the free row alone. These links carry the code lc-result.

Every partner link is marked PARTNER LINK where it appears and is a plain outbound link: no script, no pixel and no partner image loads on this site because of it, so the page still makes no third-party requests. Discover Cars links go to Discover Cars directly. The Advance Auto Parts, apexsimracing and Demon Tweeks links pass through Takeads (tatrck.com), the affiliate network that runs those programmes; that hop happens in your browser only after you click, as you leave this site. Some links pay lapcost a commission on a sale you complete (Discover Cars, Advance Auto Parts); others pay a small fixed amount per click from the partner's home market (apexsimracing, Demon Tweeks). Either way it costs you nothing extra. From the click onward the partner and, for the three routed links, Takeads handle your data under their own privacy policies. What comes back to us is aggregate reporting tagged with the page code, never your identity. Nothing you type into the calculator is sent to anyone, and no partner link changes a single number this site produces: the figures are identical whether or not a link is on the page.

None of the following is active today. If and when either launches, this policy will be updated first and the date above will change.

  • Analytics. If added, it will be a cookieless, aggregate page-view counter (such as Cloudflare Web Analytics) that does not identify visitors and sets nothing on your device.
  • Newsletter. If added, it will be double opt-in, used only for what you signed up for, with a working unsubscribe in every message.

6 · Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the GDPR rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to complain to a supervisory authority. The operator is established in Lithuania, so the lead authority is the State Data Protection Inspectorate (Valstybinė duomenų apsaugos inspekcija, vdai.lrv.lt); you may also complain to the authority where you live. Because we hold no personal data about you beyond transient server logs, most requests resolve to "there is nothing on file", but we will answer every one: hello@drivenerve.com.

Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws: we do not collect, sell or share personal information as defined by those laws, and we honour the rights they grant. The same applies in substance under Canada's PIPEDA, the Australian Privacy Act and the New Zealand Privacy Act: there is no collected personal information to access or correct, and you may contact us about any concern.

7 · Children, changes, contact

The site is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, children included. If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new date; material changes will be flagged plainly at the top. Questions: hello@drivenerve.com.
